Katakolon to Ancient Olympia: Distance, Time and Options

The short answer

Olympia is 35 km from Katakolon — about 40 minutes by road. On a cruise day you have four sensible ways to get there:

Both take about 40 minutes on the same road. The local train

There is a rail line from Katakolon to Olympia, but service is limited and seasonal, and the timetable does not always line up with a cruise call. Only rely on it if you have checked the day’s schedule and it leaves you a real buffer before all-aboard.

The tourist train on the pier

The little “train” parked by the ship is a loop of Katakolon village and the nearby coast — it does not go to Olympia. It’s a pleasant half-hour if you’re staying in town, nothing more.
