On this
private exclusive Cape Sounion tour, you will time travel back 2,500 years
to the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, “the most important
sanctuary” in the Athens’ region of Attica. The Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion
was built in the 5th century B.C. and is considered “one of the major
sights in all of Greece”. It's exciting to share the beauty and
education with those you care about on a private tour. Ask questions
feel unhurried and share knowledge in this epic location. Upon leaving we’ll lunch in a quaint
coastline seaside taverna.
Upon your return to Athens your personal bi-lingual guide, will be giving you a running narration of both the city’s modern
attractions as well as the ancient wonders of the Golden Age of Athens on your
city tour. Then, on
you go to the ancient, vibrant, and enchanting town of Plaka for
shopping and sightseeing.You know
it’s a “must see and do” with the title of neighborhood of the Gods!

Once you arrive at the Temple of Poseidon, you will have an opportunity
to sit and sip a Greek coffee at the cliff’s edge cafe and enjoy the
breathtaking majesty of the Aegean Sea. The walk up to the temple is a
short easy 5 minute walk on the same pathway and entrance that was used
over 2,500 years ago.
The traditional Greek foods served for lunch (the original
“Mediterranean Diet”), will be a real treat at
a
quaint seaside taverna/restaurant. An interesting fact is that the first
cookbook was written in 300 B.C. in Greece. They believed then, as well
as now, that there are 5 essential ingredients to a dining experience:
fresh food, herbs, olive oil, simplicity and the company you keep. So it
will be great that you are amidst your own company.
On the City Tour you will be seeing the massive Temple of Olympian Zeus
(700 years in the making) with its mammoth columns dwarfing mere humans.
We’ll pass the Panathenaikon Stadium (where the original Olympics
began), and the traditionally dressed guards performing the “changing of
the guard” hourly at the Parliament building. We’ll also see Hadrian’s
Arch and so much more.
Additionally,
you’ll have plenty of time to visit the ancient neighborhood of Plaka.
It is a literal maze with it’s labyrinth of cobble-stoned streets lined
with shops, tavernas, flea markets, Byzantine churches and a
kaleidoscope of colors and characters… You’ll feel the energy.
Then back to Piraeus with time to reflect on the great day you’ve had
briefly touching history. You will, indeed, have experienced some of the
splendor and power of this city’s incredible history during your Cape
