point of the Acropolis, and was built 437-432 B.C. Have your cameras
ready as the entire Acropolis, resting on a 200 foot high plateau,
dominates the Athenian landscape below and everything is a “photo
opportunity”. You’ll be given time to check out the “most ancient
theatre in the world”, the Theatre of Dionysus. Legendary plays written
by Sophocles and Euripides were premiered in the 5th century B.C. at his
location.
DINE/SHOP/EXPLORE…Maybe
hungry by now? Great! Next stop, a restaurant in the exciting Plaka
neighborhood at the footsteps of the Acropolis. Scrumptious Greek food
was and is the original “Mediterranean diet” where everything is
healthy, fresh and flavorful! The
Greeks should know something about food as the first cookbook in history
was written in 300 BC. . You’ll have ample free time after lunch to
explore this ancient neighborhood. The Plaka area is an enchanted
labyrinth of history with its tiny cobble-stoned corridors filled with
enticing shops, souvenir stands, tavernas, boutiques, and jewelry
stores. If you don’t shop then take great photos of fallen temples,
flower-filled balconies, Byzantine churches, ancient neighborhood houses
or just be awestruck by the vibrancy of this ancient commercial area

We will then board the a/c private car/van/bus for a relaxing journey back to
the port of Piraeus where you will arrive in ample time to relax aboard
